Watch out for the munchie monster

If your a gramma you know the munchie trap well. Busy Gramma's battle it just like busy mommies do.

I seem to be battling it today and just realized as I ate another cookie. :o

Generally the munchie monster as I call it sneaks up on you. Your busy, changing diapers, cleaning babies, giving baby massages and getting the kiddo's dressed. Hunger hits. You have a lot to do so you fix the wee one a bottle and the bigger wee one some breakfast.

As you continue getting things done you grab a *tiny* bite of something anything. Then its play time and more diapers and cleaning etc..... Lunch time hits your busy preparing something preferably healthy for your grand child. While your at it you sneak a few bits here and there and then off to more busyness.

Snack time hits and your famished the thought hits.."Have I eaten today?" that thought is followed by well.... not much and in goes the cookie.

When realization finally hits you are hungry because in essence all you have eaten is junk food on the go. The few tiny bits of something healthy while preparing a meal just don't count for much food content. However, your calorie limit is heading thru the roof.

The best thing to do at this point is have a nice healthy salad to stave off junk food cravings the rest of the day. Play a little extra with the wee ones and plan a healthy supper with the family.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Plan ahead to keep the munchie monster at bay. Healthy foods that can be grabbed and eaten when hunger hits at the busiest moments will help as will planning small meals for yourself. Preferably breakfast before the wee ones are up and lunch maybe at nap time. This will help you avoid the munchie monster.

Hiking Fun on the Ruby Jack Trail

As planned the hubby and I went for a nice 6 mile hike on Saturday. We chose to hike the Ruby Jack trail. Hiked a total of about 6 miles. It was a lovely day for a hike. The moist slightly snow covered ground added a bit of a challenge which we really enjoyed.

Of course the battery on the camera was dead and I was unable to get a snowy picture of the Ruby Jack trail. The picture above was taken on the trail during the summer.

After the hike we relaxed by walking calmly through a local flea market. Then really unwound with a meal of chips, salsa, hot sauce, chicken fajita's and a strawberry margaretta for Nana :)

Fun little tidbit: hot sauce boosts the metabolism just a tiny bit.

It is possible to resize your hips and thighs. While you cannot choose where you burn fat you can concentrate your shaping and toning efforts to a specific area while burning fat from your entire body.

In order to do this you will have to burn the fat off while also concentrating on toning your muscles. To burn the fat you will need to increase the calories, you burn per day through exercise and decrease the amount of calories you take in through food and drink.

Burn Calories while relaxing and Having Fun!

A day spent hiking in the beauty of nature is good for this Nana. A little fresh air mixed with lots of activity and exploring. Its going to be a lovely weekend for this time of year. My plans include a nice long hike in the country. Not sure where yet. You can be sure I will be dressed warmer than in the picture.

Fun Fact: Hiking burns a ton of calories. If you want a nice big juicy cheeseburger go for a two hour hike and that cheeseburger is as good as free calories. :)

My beautiful grandbabies

Trinity age 16 months

It is time the world realizes that grandmothers do not have to look old or have big bellies wasting our days in the kitchen or sitting in a rocking chair any more. We can continue to lead active joy filled lives and in so doing we can spend more quality time with our grandchildren.

Jayden 3 months

Join me if you will on this wonderful journey of being a healthy, fit grandmother.

Trinity spends most her time playing or on Nana's lap :)

No child should ever have to share a lap with belly bulge.
